Description of the walk
A few miles from the Costa Brava, Gerona/Girona is a site of premier historic and artistic significance. This tour introduces you to all the major sights--the river, the medieval walls, the Jewish quarter, the cathedral (which has the biggest nave of any Gothic church), the old church of St Felix, the "Arab" baths, and a variety of post-medieval buildings and streets. The tour can be customised to include museum visits, to focus on, for example, the city's Modernist architecture, or to take in a variety of tasty food and drink stops.FAQs
One, actually. Yes, it is possible to do Girona and Figueres in a day from Barcelona by car or, with a bit of juggling, by train. Here's a typical itinerary:- 09:00 dep Barcelona,
- between 10:30 & 11:00 arr & parked Girona
- text/call to guide saying in which of several indicated car parks you are
- guide comes and finds you and takes you around for the full four hours with a visit to a bun shop do ward off hunger,
- 15:00 delivers you back to car park
- nominated car parks are in centre on exit road to Figueres
- 16:00 arr & parked in Figueres near museum - travel is approx 45
- 16:30 into museum
- 18:00 museum closes
- plaza mayor Fig has nice tea shops / cafes
- drive back to Barcelona
